Modern Warfare 3 - 6.5 Million Copies

Modern Warfare 3 was sold 6.5 million times on its first day - only in UK and US. That's the biggest entertainment launch in history.

Call of Duty knows what 'biggest entertainment launch in history' means. Looking back:

• 2009: Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 million units, making $310 million the first day
• 2010: Black Ops sold 5.6 million units, making $360 million its first day
• 2011: Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million copies, generating $400 million its first 24 hours

There has never been another entertainment franchise, except for Call of Duty, that has set release day world records three years in a row, said Bobby Kotick, the boss of Activision. These numbers only regard the US and UK market but there has also been millions of sold copies in Asia and in the rest of Europe. At least, there are 6.5 million and 1 units sold so far because I've bought Modern Warfare 3 myself.

MW3 was released worldwide on Tuesday for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and even Wii, which version was made by Treyarch.

Gamescom 2012 - Bigger Than Ever

The Gamesocm 2012 will be bigger than ever with more than 167,000 square yard. That's 16% more than last year, so overcrowding shall be prevented. Three months ago, in August, the Gamescom 2011 cut a new record with 275,000 visitors within five days. Due to this big number of people it's a good decision to enlarge the event.

Looking back on the Gamescom 2011
I was there as a journalist so I could enter the event before opening to take pictures like the one above. To play Modern Warfare 3 for example, you had to wait almost 4 hours but Battlefield 3 was the worst with over 6 hours to wait - just to play it for 20 minutes. What is the Gamescom?
The Gamescom is the world's biggest trade fair for video games with 275,000 visitors. It's held on Cologne, Germany.

Battlefield 3 - Open Beta Details

An open beta for everyone - even without key - was confirmed by Community Manager zh1nt0 in September.

If you buy the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor, you'll get a key for the beta of Battlefield 3. This beta is a different from the open beta!
First, there will be a seperate beta for purchaser of Medal of Honor, but no exact date were mentioned. Somewhere in August is most likely.
Second, there will be an open beta for everyone interested in September, without key. Community Manager zh1nt0 said via Twitter they "confirmed that during E3 and across all platforms".

Minecraft - Details on Xbox 360

Markus Persson, also known as "Notch", the creator of Minecraft, revealed the first details of the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft.

At E3 this year Microsoft announced an Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. Although it will base on the PC version, this Minecraft will be a whole new game to play on the Xbox 360. Also Kinect will be used to simulate the chopping down a tree for example. By the way, an iOS and Android version is in developement but PS3 and Wii U is not confirmed.

Wii U Console for 2012

The new Wii U console will be released summer 2012.

During the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) Nintendo unveiled the Wii U, and Sega's executive vice president of marketing Alan Pritchard talked about a possible release date. Alsthough this isn't confirmed yet, the release would be somwhere between spring and summer 2012. After analysing the techdemos of thee Wii U, experts said that it would run with 30 frames per second and had a resolution of 720p. So no HD will be supported - what Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, denied. The console would support a resolution of 1080p and would have the best graphics available compared to what's on the market, he said.

Another huge feature shall be the online expieriences the players could make. Further information weren't given by Nintendo so far, but nobody believes a real competitor to Playstation and Xbox.
