Valve has announced that their DotA 2 will be released this year, meaning late 2011, for PC and Mac.
DotA 2 will be first shown to public at the Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, 2011. A huge DotA 2 tournament for the 16 best teams of the world takes place there, too, and the prize will be one million US-Dollar for the winner.
I will travel to Cologne to watch this tournament, for everyone else it will be streamed in four different languages: German, English, Chinese and Russian.
For people who don't know what DotA is about: DotA stands for Defense of the Ancients, it's a custom map from Warcraft III – Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III – The Frozen Throne. The date of the first appearance was sometime in 2003. A summary of its history and gameplay can be found here: Defense of the Ancients
